About DE-CIX India Internet Exchanges

Following the rapid growth of Frankfurt, DE-CIX began expanding its interconnection footprint across Germany, laying the foundation for its later international expansion.

DE-CIX expanded beyond Germany for the first time with the launch of UAE-IX in Dubai, operated in partnership with du/datamena. The move marked the beginning of DE-CIX's transformation into a global interconnection provider.

DE-CIX expanded into North America with the launch of DE-CIX New York. The move strengthened the company's global footprint and established a new interconnection hub in one of the world's most important connectivity markets.

DE-CIX continued its international expansion with the launch of DE-CIX Istanbul, extending its interconnection ecosystem between Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

DE-CIX became the world's first Internet Exchange operator to offer remote peering between locations, beginning with Frankfurt and New York. The innovation enabled networks to peer across locations without requiring a direct physical presence at each exchange.

DE-CIX entered the Indian market with DE-CIX Mumbai, bringing its global interconnection and hyper scaler expertise to one of the world's fastest-growing digital markets. Mumbai became the starting point for DE-CIX's India Interconnection journey.

DE-CIX Mumbai rapidly established itself as a major interconnection hub, enabling networks, CDNs and content providers to exchange traffic efficiently. By the end of 2018, the platform had connected 129 customers with more than 650 Gbit/s of customer capacity.

DE-CIX expanded beyond Mumbai into Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai, creating a nationwide Internet Exchange footprint. The expansion brought carrier- and data-center-neutral interconnection closer to networks and users across India's key digital markets.

As Internet usage surged during the pandemic, DE-CIX India scaled rapidly to meet rising demand for bandwidth and interconnection. Traffic peaked at 1.5 Tbps, while the network expanded its presence to 15 data centers and introduced DirectCLOUD connectivity to major global cloud platforms.

DE-CIX India continued expanding its national infrastructure with new Points of Presence across Mumbai and Delhi NCR. The platform reached more than 310 connected networks and 15 data centers, while DirectCLOUD strengthened access to global cloud services.

DE-CIX India crossed the landmark of 500 connected networks, adding more than 400 networks in just 24 months. Mumbai alone surpassed 1 Tbps of throughput, demonstrating the accelerating demand for local, high-performance interconnection in India.

DE-CIX expanded its Indian interconnection ecosystem into Hyderabad, bringing premium peering and connectivity services to one of India's leading technology and digital innovation hubs.

DE-CIX India expanded into Bengaluru with a new Point of Presence at NTT DC3, bringing its interconnection platform to India's leading technology ecosystem. The year also saw the launch of Cloud ROUTER and Data Center Interconnection services.

In India DE-CIX achieved Google Gold Verified Peering and MAPs Services while also established a UAE–India internet corridor.

DE-CIX India continues to deepen its interconnection footprint, extending its Mumbai services to Equinix MB3. The expansion strengthens access to DE-CIX India's peering, cloud and low-latency interconnection ecosystem. Today, DE-CIX India connects more than 630+ networks across six major Indian cities.
